I have enjoyed telling stories since I was a child. I want others to see those stories, but in a way that does not come across as overbearing. I have ADHD and autism, so this sometimes became an issue, growing up. As I have discovered, art is one of the best ways to tell the stories that come into my head. Not only does it help me tell stories, but the process is enjoyable for me. My brain loves to move from one thing to another quickly. I will have a major interest in something, but a few months later, that interest is gone. But that didn't happen with art. I love seeing the final product and seeing others interpret the story behind the artwork. Illustrations are the main way I make art. But I also want to make graphic novels to tell my stories, in the future.
Young me was sometimes described as a tree hugger of sorts. The kind of child who would feel bad for a bug or a plant. This can be seen in my artwork. My art tends to blend natural elements with objects and bodies that most would not associate them with. I want to connect humanity back to nature with my art, because we often forget that we are part of it. Because of this, the way I tell the stories in my artwork will usually involve botanical elements.
Often, the goal of an artwork can be for the viewer to look within themself. I want them to connect back to the rest of humanity through my art, as well. I will make artwork that is about fear, happiness, and serenity. I like it when the viewer can see themself in the artwork.
I love surrealism. That, and magical realism, are the main art genres that inspire me today. This may be why my dreams are the way they are. Almost nonsensical, which causes much of my art to seem very dreamlike. I want to transcend the boundaries of what we consider to be reality. I want my art to make the viewer question how it works.
If the viewer can find a meaning in the artwork, even if it is not necessarily the one I had in mind, then that makes me happy. I create mostly digital artwork, but do traditional art occasionally.
